Does a CS2 Skin Changer Actually Add Skins to Your Inventory?

Closed thread Closed by archive

This might be a basic question, but does a CS2 skin changer actually add skins to your Steam inventory?

Or does it just change how weapons look through the tool?

I keep seeing people talk about skin changers and cosmetic tools, but I don't see a clear explanation of the difference between visual changes and actually owning an item.

I assume those are two different things, right?

Yes, they're different things. Don't assume a visual change means you've acquired an actual inventory item.

A cosmetic appearance and ownership are not the same.

So it wouldn't automatically mean I can trade or sell the skin?

Exactly. Don't assume tradeability or inventory ownership unless the product explicitly establishes that through an official supported system.

Imagine thinking you got a rare knife and then checking your actual inventory lol.

That's why product descriptions need to explain exactly what the tool changes.
