HWID Spoofer vs VPN: Are They the Same Thing?

Closed thread Closed by archive

I've seen people discussing VPNs and HWID spoofers in the same conversations.

Are they actually related?

My understanding is that a VPN changes how your internet connection is routed, while an HWID spoofer has something to do with hardware identifiers.

Is that basically the difference?

Would be useful to clear this up because people seem to treat them like interchangeable tools.

You have the basic idea right. A VPN deals with network traffic and your apparent network IP. An HWID spoofer deals with hardware identifiers reported to software.

So using a VPN doesn't automatically do anything to hardware identifiers?

Correct. Different things entirely.

And neither one should be treated as a guaranteed solution for an account or game restriction.

People see two technical tools mentioned together and assume they do the same job. They don't.

Makes sense. I was mixing up network identity and hardware identity.
