How Can You Check Whether a Gaming Tool Download Is Safe?

A question that probably applies to more than just CS2 tools.

How do you check whether a third-party gaming software download is legitimate before opening it?

There are so many fake download buttons, copied websites, and random files floating around.

Do you check the original source, scan the installer, verify file information, or something else?

I don't think people should just run everything because a website says "download now."

Start with the source. Download only from the provider's official website or account area.

If the publisher provides a file hash, you can compare it with the downloaded file. But only use a trusted source for the reference hash.

Good point. I hadn't thought about checking file hashes.

And don't click every download button. Some pages have multiple fake buttons around the actual link.

Never give a random installer your Steam password either. That's a massive red flag.

Also, don't disable your security protection just because a file tells you to. Stop and verify what is happening first.
